ARS, Connecticut Chapter Happenings: OCTOBER-NOVEMBER, 2007

Our October Plant Auction was a huge success. Many types of plants were sold. Of course many, many Rhododendrons were available for bidding, but in addition we had Dawn Redwood, Magnolias, Daphnes, Boxwoods, Bromiliads, Hostas, a farfugium, Hydrangias, Umbrella pines, Bonsai, Cape Myrtle, etc, etc. The ARS, CT Chapter raised $855 from the auction. Thanks to all who made the event a success!

Membership

The ARS, Connecticut Chapter is seeking more members. The ARS nationally has declined in membership from 5265 members in 1997 to 4014 members in 2006. The Connecticut Chapter has seen its membership decline from 104 to 68 in the same time period. We have recently added new members (six since July alone) so that our membership is up to 82 at the moment. We encourage you to encourage others to at least attend one of our meetings to see what we are about. Remember too, that we have a contest to see which town will provide the most members.
